Philips Healthcare: Sidra Case Study
This case study highlights how Philips reimagined and improved the patient experience in a cultural environment that was very different from health centers in the United States and Western Europe. It is one of many case studies I wrote for Philips highlighting their innovative approach to healthcare design.
Collaborating to make a world class health center
Improve clinical, operational and patient experiences within a unique cultural environment
Sidra Medical and Research Center, located in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, is an ultramodern, academic medical center, that is poised to set new standards of patient care in the country and around the world. Currently in the final phases of construction, Sidra is designed to provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services focused on, but not limited to, the needs of women and children. Impressed by our ambient experience solutions and imaging innovations, the Sidra Radiology Department invited Philips Healthcare Design and Healthcare Transformation Services to jointly develop culturally rooted and meaningful experiences for patients in Qatar. Our goals:
• Co-develop a holistic experience strategy based on people-centric insights
• Balance patient, family and staff experiences with clinical excellence and operational efficiency
• Deliver these changes without any changes to the footprint of the facility
